AwfulWorld Enters the Windows NT Era

Management declares the future operational, pending the location of a compatible keyboard.

Following an exhaustive review of equipment already lying around, The AwfulWorld Group is pleased to announce a major upgrade to its server infrastructure. The venerable TRS-80 Color Computer 3 has been relieved of duty, making way for the high-powered monster pictured below.

A fond farewell to the BASIC era

The outgoing TRS-80 Color Computer 3, running Microsoft Disk Extended Color BASIC, served with distinction, patience, and a definition of “web hosting” that management has asked us not to examine too closely. Its retirement marks the end of an era in which typing RUN was considered a deployment strategy.

The machine will be retained as a disaster-recovery platform, provided the disaster does not also affect the box of disks.

Introducing Windows NT 3.51

The replacement system runs what management proudly describes as “the latest version of Windows NT 3.51.” The technology department has clarified that “latest” refers to the version most recently found in a drawer.

This high-powered monster features a substantial beige enclosure, a reassuringly physical power switch, and a floppy drive that establishes immediate credibility with senior leadership. Exact performance figures remain unavailable because the benchmarking team became distracted trying to find a mouse.

What this means for visitors

Visitors can expect the same questionable content, now backed by considerably more cabinet. Management anticipates improved confidence, increased fan noise, and a measurable reduction in the number of times someone asks whether the server is a keyboard.

The migration is being described as seamless. Any interruptions will be attributed to routine maintenance, unexpected innovation, or someone needing the outlet.

Future upgrades remain subject to budget approval and whatever turns up during the next garage cleanout.
